PATHS AND POEMS IN HOB HEY WOOD
Wednesday 3 May: 10.30am. A poetry walk and workshop with poet Jean Atkin
Immerse yourself in a Weaver Words ramble along paths through ancient woodland, led by the poet Jean Atkin. We’ll walk at a gentle pace, with pauses to listen to an occasional poem, and to build ideas for the writing workshop that will follow the walk.
Hob Hey Wood was once part of the ancient forests of Mara and Mondrem that covered much of medieval Cheshire. These beautiful paths will lead us deep into the natural history of the wood, which is famed for its bluebells and wild garlic.
The walk will last just over an hour (please wear strong shoes) and will be followed by a two hour writing workshop at Frodsham Community Centre, starting at 12.30pm. Feel free to bring a packed lunch to eat together in the Community Centre before the workshop.
Meet for the walk at 10.30am at the entrance to Frodsham Townfield allotments (Postcode: WA6 7LX). Limited parking is available on nearby Langdale Way, Townfield Lane and surrounding streets. For those on foot, it is a 15 minute walk uphill from Frodsham Community Centre. We also offer limited spare car passenger places, departing from the Frodsham Centre car park at 10.15pm
